Emily Mortimer

For my final major project, I have created a costume design and finally a costume inspired by renaissance and historical art. However, ‘Renaissance’ also means the revival or the renewed interest of something so I will also incorporate this meaning into my work as well. Throughout my course I have always enjoyed researching historical art and events to inspire my outcomes. In the past I have looked at roman statues and based a whole project around that, I have also created roman inspired costume designs for my work experience. I have always enjoyed visiting museums and galleries and finding out about historical events. I created refined samples and carry out detailed research to help me create my final piece which included printing my own fabric and melting voiles to produce 3D flowers. I am progressing to a Costume Design Degree and this project has extended my skills.
