Alexis Bowe Walters

The title of my project is ‘Sustainable Fashion,’ I have created a garment inspired by recycled objects and materials. The main material I used was recycled plastic and to stitch and sew or even melt shopping bags together. I really enjoy creating statement fashion pieces and it is my strong point, especially using a sewing machine. I looked into using plastics as I have learned many skills with this material during the previous projects. I am influenced by fashion in general, another major influence is making less waste but the fashion industry accounts for 10% of global carbon emissions and almost 20% of wastewater, so therefore I want to make a difference and show people you can reuse old things and made them “new”, upcycling and reusing should be a bigger part of fashion especially in retail.
